About This Pathway

Agriculture, Food Production & Cooperative Retail is scoped as a future-phase SkyBridge apprenticeship pathway. Alaska's food production and cooperative retail sectors employ a significant workforce with limited access to structured, credentialed training.

When developed, this pathway will train apprentices in agricultural operations, food production processes, cooperative business management, and retail operations specific to Alaska's unique food systems environment.

Development of this pathway is contingent on employer partner readiness, available funding, and SkyBridge program capacity. We are not currently accepting employer or apprentice registrations for this pathway.

Important: This pathway is not in active development and is not registered with the U.S. Department of Labor. No timeline for development has been established. All details are preliminary and subject to change.

Why This Pathway Is Planned

Alaska's food production and cooperative sectors need structured workforce development pathways.

Local Food System Workforce

Paid Training Model

Like all SkyBridge pathways, this will be a paid apprenticeship when launched — no unpaid training, no student debt.

Cooperative Sector Alignment

Alaska's cooperative retail organizations represent a natural employer partner base for this pathway, connecting apprentices to stable, community-rooted employment.
